How do you send a package from Iowa to Michigan?

The post office will gladly help you. First, you can save yourself a trip by checking out the United States Postal Service website, which has all the rules and regulations on package sizes, weights, cost to mail them, and the like. Google "United States Postal Service" and you'll find the site. If you live near the post office, though, the trip might be worth it because you can buy ready-made boxes in which your item can be shipped. Getting the box from the post office itself guarantees that it meets their standards. If you wish to do so, you can take the item with you, package it right there (most post offices have small counters or tables where you can do the packaging -- bring some packaging tape with you, which you can get at K-mart or Wal-Mart) then hand the package to the clerk, and he'll weigh it and send it off right then. Another choice is to take the item to UPS. They will package it for you and ship it in the way that you instruct them. This is a more expensive service, but it relieves you of responsibility, since they will cover with insurance anything they pack.
