Is it possible to sign a lease under age 18?

I live in the state of Iowa, and I've heard that it is actually fairly lax. If i was interested in moving out under the "legal age", i know it is suggested to have parents do that, but they're more like children than I am. I'm about 6 months away from 18, and I was wondering about the legal issues around this. I have a steady, relatively well-paying job, and roommates available for an apartment or small house. Is there a safe way to go about doing this?
