Is it true that black people are shite swimmers?

well that is what I have heard as well. don't know if it is true or a stereotype. blacks in the US aren't in the socio-economic circles that favor swimming as a pasttime, as a skill, so it could be more socioeconomic than physical in origin. And certainly a good portion of the "black" population is genetically white in part, which means that one should see a spectrum of swimming ability based on genetic cross, and this doesn't seem to be the case, suggesting that the origin of poor swimming skills in the black US population is not genetic but socioeconomic.
