How do foreign exchange students like Iowa?

I'll be living in there for a year, and wanted to know any experiences you guys had? I'm going in a small town, which is kinda annoying because I come a 10k citizens town from a developing country, and I wanted to see some big cities, you know... It's also annoying that I'm going to Iowa, and even though I am used to snow and everything, I actually prefer hot weather, like VERY hot. I find it unfair as some of the students are going to California, Arizona and other southern countries, or at least in some bigger places. I feel really depressed about it and that's why I'm writing this...
